Manitowoc Crane Group on show at M&T Expo
Manitowoc Crane Group displayed a Grove all-terrain crane and highlighted a range of services from its Manitowoc Crane CARE customer service arm at the recent M&T Expo, held 6 – 10 June, 2006, in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The show took place at the Brazilian city’s Imigrantes Exhibition Center and is the premier construction equipment show for Latin America.
The Grove crane on display was a 220 t (250 USt) rated GMK6220-L (known in the US as the GMK6250-L). The crane has been one of the top-selling all-terrains in Brazil due to the wide range of work it can handle with its 72 m (236 ft) main boom. Among the Brazilian rental companies which have added the crane to their fleets in recent months are Sao Paulo-based Locar and Fortaleza-based Makro.
Manitowoc Crane CARE is the lifting industry’s premier customer support program offering not only parts and service support but also training, technical documentation, branded consumables, and other services aimed at helping end-users run safer and more productive operations. At M&T there was a range of information available to visitors as well as a number of staff on hand to discuss individual requirements.
The Brazilian market is currently one of the most active in Latin America and its upturn coincides with a strengthening of Manitowoc Crane Group’s presence in the region. Kyle Nape, Manitowoc Crane Group’s vice president of Latin American sales, explained the importance of the Brazilian market to the company.
“Brazil is one of the most powerful economies in this region and it is benefiting from strong demand for its natural resources as well the relatively high price of oil,” Nape said. “We are focusing on strengthening our activities in the country and we are making excellent progress. Manitowoc Crane CARE now has a considerable presence in the country which is helping our customers get the most from their cranes. These past few months have also seen us secure orders for cranes from our three major lifting brands – Grove, Manitowoc, and Potain – with some of the biggest names in Brazil.”
