The new cab is a modern design based around functionality, ergonomics, and comfort. New features include a panoramic windscreen, improved visibility and rear-view, curved heated mirrors. The instrumentation fits inside a glare-free dashboard, ideally located and clearly readable. The new cab makes use of Grove’s ECOS electronic control system. Carrier settings, such as suspension, differentials, steering and level are easily adjusted using the state-of-the-art ECOS panel. Operators can also easily monitor oil and water temperature, engine speed, as well as fuel and battery levels, using the system. Frans Vanwinkel, vice president of sales and marketing for MCG in EMEA, said the new cab had customer productivity in mind. “We introduced our new cab last year on our GMK4100 and GMK4100-L models,” he said. “To date, feedback from the market has been very positive. MCG recognizes that good cab design is crucial to the success of any crane. Putting the operator in optimum conditions is essential to maximizing productivity.” The GMK5130-2 has 13 different counterweight combinations from 1 t up to 40.1 t. This allows maximum versatility, and is especially useful for compliance with different international axle-weight requirements. The six-section boom is also popular with end users, with the GMK5130-2 capable of handling 10 t at its 60 m boom tip. The GMK5130-2 has several of Grove’s patented features – MEGAFORM boom and TWIN-LOCK boom pinning for superior lifting performance. MEGATRAK suspension also features, which gives increased maneuverability. The GMK5130-2 also embodies Grove’s Taxi-Maxi ‘two cranes in one’ concept. The ‘Taxi’ crane is a ready-to-work specification at 12 t per axle, while the ‘Maxi’ is a full counterweight and ultimate performance option. In the 12 t per-axle (and 10x8x10) ‘Taxi’ configuration, the crane can travel fully equipped with 8.5 t counterweight, 16.00R25 tires, 11-18 m swingaway jib, and hook-block. In the ‘Maxi’ configuration, with up to 40.1 t of counterweight, the crane has optimum lift capacities throughout the load chart – perfect for heavy-lift applications. The hydraulic-luffing, swingaway jib is one of the highlights of the GMK range. On the new GMK5130-2, an 11–18 m full-power luffing swingaway, plus inserts, makes possible jib lengths up to 32 m. The crane has a maximum possible tip height of 95 m, and a maximum lift capacity of 1.9 t. A manual offset version of the swingaway is also available.
