Manitowoc shows Potain self-erecting cranes at Batimat

Manitowoc showed three self-erecting cranes from its Potain brand at the Batimat 2007 exhibition held between November 5 and 10 in Paris, France. The company occupied Stand BB 24 on the Terrasse at the show, which took place at the Porte de Versailles.

Philippe Cohet, executive vice president of Manitowoc in EMEA, said the company used the occasion to highlight innovation in its range of self-erecting cranes.

“Batimat is a very important show for our French customers and we are delighted to show them the latest in Potain self-erecting crane technology,” he said. “We are committed to innovation in our product line as we believe that by offering the most innovative cranes in the business our customers can gain the maximum productivity and profitability for their equipment.”

The three Potain self-erecting cranes on the stand were the Igo MC 13, Igo 22 and the Igo T 70. Each has individual features and benefits, highlighting the innovation that appears throughout the Potain range of self-erecting cranes.

Center stage on the company’s stand was the Igo T 70, the first in a new line of ‘Igo T’ cranes that debuted at bauma 2007 earlier this year. The crane has a 4 t maximum capacity and can handle 1.3 t at its maximum jib length of 40 m. However the most distinctive feature of the Igo T 70 is its climbing mast that offers variable working heights.

The crane has a two-section telescopic mast which increases its height through the addition of 6 m auxiliary sections. This allows the T 70 to vary its working height between 23 m and 32 m in increments of 3 m or 6 m. Without auxiliary masts, the T 70 achieves working heights of 15, 17 and 20 m.

Like the Igo T 70, the Igo MC 13 also made its trade show debut at bauma 2007 earlier this year. This crane is from the M series of self-erecting cranes and includes a built-in, single-axle trailer. It can be towed at speeds of up to 25 km/h and below 12 t per axle, even when equipped with full counterweight. This set-up makes the crane ideal for roading in a range of countries around the world, including France.

The crane erects easily in less than 30 minutes, making it a perfect candidate for short-term jobs. Maximum capacity is 1.8 t and maximum jib is 22 m, at which radius the Igo MC 13 lifts 0.6 t.

The third crane on show is the Igo 22 which is one of the core range of Igo self-erecting cranes from Potain. The Igo 22 has a maximum capacity of 1.8 t and can lift 850 kg at its maximum jib length of 28 m. Its working height is 20 m.
