Manitowoc will be featuring its newest Grove YardBoss industrial crane at
the International Construction and Utility Equipment Expo (ICUEE) in
Louisville, KY, October 16 to 18, 2007.
The Grove YB4409-2 is a 9 USt industrial crane that borrows from the design
of two other cranes in the product line, according to Tom McCallum, director of
industrial crane sales for the Manitowoc. “The YB4409-2 crane fits between our 8.5 USt YB4409 and 10.5 USt YB4411
models. Its design comes from the cost-effective chassis from the YB4409,
joined with the upper portion of the YB4411. The result is a higher capacity,
more functional crane.”
The YB4409-2 offers a three-section 9.5 m (31 ft) main boom and the ability
to offset its jib. With its boom and jib configuration of 14.6 m (48 ft), the
YB4409-2 has a 2.5 m (8 ft) reach advantage over similar cranes. Its 8 t (9
USt) maximum lift capacity can be handled through 360º and not only over the
front. The crane also offers lower ground bearing pressure thanks to a 10%
increase in outrigger pad area versus other cranes.
A pivoting boom head allows for low-profile operation at boom angles above
five degrees. With the boom at its maximum angle, the YB4409-2 offers
dimensions from boom tip to the base of hook opening of just 1.1 m (43 in). The
YB4409-2 also offers a faster line speed and less tail swing than others in its
class.
