Manitowoc will be showcasing its National Crane 1400A boom truck at the International Construction and Utility Equipment Expo (ICUEE) in Louisville, KY, US, October 16-18.

The National Crane 1400A has a 33 USt capacity rating and features a 127-ft five-section boom, which is the longest in its size range. The longer boom allows the operator to perform more lifts without the use of a jib, reducing setup time and improving efficiency.  A 100-ft four-section boom and a 110-ft four-section boom are also available along with an optional 25 ft to 44 ft jib. Maximum vertical reach with this boom truck is 171 ft.

The boom also has “Easy Glide” self-lubricating wear pads, which reduce the conditions that cause boom chatter and vibration resulting in smoother crane operation. Also allowing smooth operation is a pressure-compensated load-sensing hydraulic system.

The 1400A utilizes “H”-style multi-span “out and down” outriggers allowing for fast, safe set-up in a variety of jobsite conditions. The outriggers have a 24.5 ft span when fully extended, but they can also be set up mid-span at 17 ft.

The boom truck also features a load moment indicator system with graphical display, boom lift and telescope, winch and anti-two block control. It also includes WADS (work area definition) as standard equipment.

Manitowoc’s Vision Cab is also standard on the National 1400A boom truck. The cab, which has more glass for improved visibility, features a multi-position seat with arm rest single axis joystick controls, ventilation fans, and diesel heater. Anoptional self-contained air conditioning unit is also available.
