Etchart has been with Manitowoc Crane Group since 1995, serving first as a general manager for Potain in Italy before moving to the Asia-Pacific region in 1997. After starting out in Singapore, Etchart moved to China in 2001. From that time he has served as executive vice president of the Asia-Pacific region. Speaking about the new role, Etchart paid tribute to Glen Tellock and looked ahead. “There could not be a more exciting or challenging time to take up this position with Manitowoc Crane Group. I feel immensely proud in accepting this role,” he said. “Glen has been a tremendous leader over the past five years, driving us to the front of our industry. I believe we now have a platform to build on, to take us to new lifting markets.” Tellock said Etchart’s appointment as president is well suited for MCG. “Eric brings a deep knowledge of the lifting industry and a passion for our products to his new role. With his experience leading the Asia-Pacific region, and his previous role managing the Potain brand in Italy, his move to group president will be seamless,” Tellock said. “Eric is extremely globally-focused in his approach to business and he will continue the effort we started to make MCG the global leader in lifting solutions.” The appointment of Etchart comes just days after the bauma 2007 trade show in Munich, Germany. At the show MCG unveiled a host of new and innovative cranes to the world’s construction industry. The event is the biggest of its kind and MCG was among the most talked about exhibitors at the fair, which attracted over 500,000 visitors. Etchart will relocate to the Manitowoc area over the next six months. Manitowoc Crane Group is also recruiting a new executive vice president for the Asia-Pacific region.
