Manitowoc Crane CARE launched its E-training program for Chinese customers at this year’s bauma China exhibition, November 21 – 24 in Shanghai. The training program made its Chinese debut on the Manitowoc Crane Group booth (B08 in the Outside Area).

The program comprises two types of training: Basic e-training and product specific e-training. The training courses are accessed via the Internet, allowing students to complete course work at their own pace and convenience.

Jack Lee, general manager of Manitowoc Crane CARE in Asia-Pacific, said the courses offer time and cost saving advantages.

“Training online is a low cost option as it saves on hotel and travel expenses which are incurred traveling to a dedicated training center,” he said. “It also means less time out of the office and more flexibility as courses fit around individual’s schedules. The Basic e-training offers an excellent introduction for newcomers – or a ‘refresher’ course for more experienced personnel – particularly when used ahead of our more intensive, training-center based courses. The Product Specific e-training goes into greater detail and focuses on a wider range of competency levels.”

The Basic e-training program explains the fundamentals of lifting equipment over a 15-hour class. Students have 90 days to complete the course after registering on-line. Each topic segment ends with a quiz to test student knowledge and reinforce key points. Upon completion of the course, students pass through an assessment process before final certification.

The Product Specific e-training focuses on Grove mobile cranes, Manitowoc crawler cranes or Potain tower cranes. Students enrolling for these courses must first take a pre-registration test before joining a beginner, intermediate or an advanced course. The courses feature numerous animations and graphical tools designed to aid learning. Case studies relating to real life job sites allow a better understanding of the practical implications of the course work.

Prospective students may register by visiting CraneCARE .
