J F Lomma makes major Manitowoc purchase

US crane hire company J F Lomma has purchased six new Manitowoc crawler cranes – three Model 2250s, two Model 16000s, and a Model 18000. All six cranes will join the New Jersey-based company’s extensive fleet which includes a number of MCG machines from across its brands – Potain tower cranes, Grove all-terrain mobile cranes, as well as other Manitowoc crawlers.

Jimmy Lomma, company president of J F Lomma, has great confidence in the Manitowoc brand.

“Manitowoc crawlers have some of the best load charts around,” he said. “Customers’ needs are varied, and with the amount of urban construction going on in New York City, we need to be prepared for any number of jobsite needs. With a variety of boom configurations and great lift capacities across the load chart, Manitowoc crawlers provide exactly what we need.”

The Model 2250, the Model 16000, and the Model 18000 offer maximum capacities of 300 t (330 USt), 400 t (440 USt), 600 t (660 USt) respectively. All of the new purchases were bought as complete packages, with luffing jibs included. The Model 2250 reaches a maximum of 122 m (400 ft), when configured with main boom and luffing jib, while with the same configuration the Model 18000 has a reach of 158.5 m (520 ft) and the Model 16000 offers 132 m (432 ft).

Glen Tellock, president and general manager of the Manitowoc Crane Group, said he was very pleased to secure the Lomma order. “I am delighted that Lomma has demonstrated its continued faith in Manitowoc products with this significant order. Such confidence in MCG products is proof that our company is providing end users with the exact cranes they want.”

David Birkhauser, senior vice president of sales for the Americas, was equally delighted with the purchase.

“We pride ourselves on the relationships we maintain with our customers,” he said. We’ve been working with Lomma for as long as I can remember, so it’s great to continue our relationship into the future. Lomma is a well-run, well-respected organization – exactly the type of customer we like to partner with.”

J F Lomma specializes in supplying crane and heavy hauling solutions to construction projects throughout the northeastern US and the New York City Metro area. The company’s machines are mostly engaged in steel erection for heavy construction, such as power plants and stadiums. J F Lomma is based in northern New Jersey, but maintains three other offices, in New York City, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and in Charlotte, North Carolina. It has 300 employees employed across all four offices. The new crawler cranes have all been assigned projects in the coming months, and a Potain tower crane is also on order for Lomma. Delivery of the new machines will begin in September.
