Derek Oh Joins MCG Management Team

Derek Oh: Vice President of operations for Manitowoc Crane Group's Asia-Pacific region.

Manitowoc Crane Group has appointed Derek Oh to the newly created position of vice president of operations for the Asia-Pacific region. Oh will report directly to Eric Etchart, executive vice president of MCG Asia-Pacific, and will provide direction and leadership for both manufacturing and engineering at the new facility in Zhangjiagang, China, as well as any other manufacturing facilities added to the region at a later date.

Oh will be based at the Zhangjiagang plant and will also be a part of MCG’s Global Engineering and Manufacturing Committee. Prior to joining MCG Oh served as general plant manager for a manufacturer of automotive chassis frames supplying Isuzu Thailand and General Motors in Bangkok.

He has 27 years experience in operations management including inter-regional supply chain management in the automotive industry. He works with Toyota production methods, lean manufacturing and Total Quality Management systems. His new position in China is his second in the country as he previously spent five years with Lion China Automotive in Hunan province.

Oh earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering at Westminster University (formerly Central London Polytechnic) in the UK. He is married with three children and will be relocating with his wife and his youngest daughter to Shanghai.

The appointment of Oh is part of a global initiative at Manitowoc Crane Group which has also seen Denis François appointed to an equivalent position in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region and Chuck Mogged appointed to an equivalent position in The Americas.
