First Igo MA13 in US Makes Debut

The first Potain Igo MA 13 is unveiled at an event at a San Jose, Calif. golf course.
Manitowoc Crane Group dealer SI Equipment Services recently showed the first Igo MA13 self-erecting crane in the US to the Northern California Contractors Association. The crane is the first of 14 Manitowoc self-erecting cranes ordered by SI as demand for this product continues to grow.

SI pulled the wraps off the 1.8 t (2 USt) capacity crane at a golf event staged in San Jose, Calif. About 120 people attended the product launch and interest levels were high. SI demonstrated the MA13’s capabilities at intervals throughout the day, showing how it has a 22 m (72 ft) radius capability and 16 m (52.5 ft) under hook height. “It was a ‘show-and-tell’ event which has subsequently resulted in rental opportunities as a direct result of the crane’s advantages coming under the spotlight,” said Joe Maslizek, a Manitowoc Crane Group sales manager who demonstrated the crane.

Boosting SI’s self-erecting crane fleet will be a further six Igo MA13s and six MA21s, a model that will be formally introduced by Manitowoc Crane Group to the US market at World of Concrete and CONEXPO 2005. Specifications of this machine include a maximum radius of 26 m (85 ft), a maximum load capacity of 1.8 t (2 USt) and a 19.3 m (63 ft) hook height.

“With more reach than comparable products, low maintenance and environmentally friendly features such as electric power and quiet operation, these cranes are a great benefit to contractors,” commented Joe Maslizek. “Add features like capacity at radius and faster operation than other forms of construction equipment and the Igo self-erectors prove their worth on job sites time and again.”
