Second Potain Igo T to make debut at CONEXPO 2008
The second model in Potain’s Igo T range of self-erecting cranes, the Igo T 85, will be displayed on Manitowoc’s stand at CONEXPO 2008, March 11-15 in Las Vegas. The Igo T cranes are characterized by telescopic lattice masts that offer users variable working heights.
The Igo T 85 offers working heights between 66 ft and 115 ft with variations achieved either through telescoping or adding auxiliary sections. The maximum tip height of the crane is 157 ft.
Clay Thoreson, Manitowoc’s director of tower crane sales for North America, said self-erecting cranes are growing in popularity in the US.
“The strength of this new Potain Igo T 85 will attract a lot of customers throughout North America,” he said. “Over the past five years, the popularity of self-erecting cranes has grown significantly in the US and Potain is the undisputed brand of choice for the majority of companies. Their ability to cover large areas of the jobsite and the speed with which they transfer loads makes them a hit with contractors. The very flexible Igo T range has raised the bar again.”
The Igo T 85 has a maximum capacity of 13,227 lb, which it can lift at a radius of 51 ft. The Igo T 85 can unfold its jib to various lengths to give users optimum choice in reach and capacity. The crane can pick 2,755 lbs at its maximum radius of 148 ft. With the jib unfolded to 131 ft the crane picks 3,638 lb at jib end.
The jib can luff up to 30˚ and, depending on mast configuration, can offer lift heights between 138 ft and 157 ft. Potain self-erecting cranes are well-known for their small on-site footprints and the Igo T 85 is no exception with a 15 ft x 15 ft base. Smooth and fast hoist operations come courtesy of Potain’s 20 LVF 15 Optima winch which offers speeds of up to 213 ft/min.
