Manitowoc will exhibit the Model 14000, for the North American market at CONEXPO 2008, March 11 – 15 in Las Vegas. The crane was officially launched at bauma 2007 in Munich, Germany, and has gone to work at jobsites worldwide. CONEXPO 2008 marks the 14000’s first appearance at a tradeshow in North America.

Mike Wood, global product manager for Manitowoc crawler cranes, said the timing of the Model 14000 introduction was perfect.

“Companies looking to replace or upgrade reliable and popular older units like the Model 4100W have a perfect alternative in the Model 14000,” he said. “The Model 14000 is a great, all-around construction crane. Designed to make use of the No. 22 boom and fixed jib assets, the Model 14000 greatly reduces initial cost of ownership. Feedback of the cranes in the field has been extremely positive. This crane is assured a place in Manitowoc’s history books.”

The Model 14000 is best suited to jobs that maximize its heavy-lift capabilities. These could be applications such as commercial construction, bridge building or work in fabrication yards and petrochemical plants.

The 220 USt capacity Model 14000 is a fully hydraulic crane with a maximum boom of 292 ft and boom plus luffing jib up to 363 ft. Line pull on the main drum is 31,500 lb. Transport is a key factor with the Model 14000 and the complete crane, with maximum boom, fixed jib and counterweights, ships on only 12 trucks.

The Model 14000 features Manitowoc’s patented EPIC with Can-Bus control system. This allows control of six independent closed-loop hydraulic circuits for optimum performance while lifting. Manitowoc’s patented FACT connection system allows for easier set-up and tear down.
