The 110 USt capacity crane has a 36 ft. to 142 ft. five-section, full-power boom featuring Grove’s MEGAFORM shaping for improved strength and rigidity. The boom also features Manitowoc’s patented TWIN-LOCK boom-pinning technology. Doyle Bryant, director of product development and marketing for Grove in the Americas, said the TMS9000E’s boom will differentiate the crane in the field. “Truck cranes have to travel between jobsites so there’s always a focus on roadability,” he said. “But once it gets to the job, the crane needs to perform. The TMS9000E’s MEGAFORM boom with TWIN-LOCK technology will provide superior performance.” Other upgrades to the TMS9000E include new chassis and superstructure cabs; new boom support and counterweight support designs; and improved accessibility for service and maintenance. Maximum tip height for the crane is 151 ft. The crane also features a manually offsettable (at 0°, 20° and 40°) bifold lattice swingaway extension. It increases maximum tip height to 207 ft. A hydraulic version of this extension is also available and can be offset from 5° to 40°. Lattice insert extensions are available to increase maximum tip height to 237 ft. The TMS9000E can accommodate up to 48,500 lbs of counterweight, with a hydraulic removal system incorporated for ease of set-up. The superstructure cab can be tilted +20° for increased operator visibility and comfort during operation. The adjustable operator’s seat in the cab includes hydraulic suspension and features armrest integrated crane controls. Power for the TMS9000E comes from a Cummins ISM 450 hp, six cylinder turbo-charged, after-cooled engine. This engine is certified to 2007 on-highway engine EPA regulations for the US market.
