The Model 14000 has much in common with the Model 4100W, but also has its own characteristics. It is a fully hydraulic crane with a 200 t lift capacity, maximum boom of 86 m, and luffing jib up to 113.8 m. Line pull on the main drum is 140 kN. The Model 14000 features MCG’s patented Can-Bus and EPIC control system. This allows the control of six independent closed-loop hydraulic circuits for optimum performance while lifting. The FACT connection system is standard, for easier set-up and tear down. A Vision Cab offers greater visibility and improves operator efficiency. Raman Joshi, global product manager for Manitowoc crawler cranes, said the timing of the Model 14000 launch was perfect. “Companies looking to replace reliable and popular older units like the Model 4100W have a perfect alternative in the Model 14000,” he said. “The Model 14000 has excellent potential both globally and in Europe. Low cost of ownership and high anticipated residual values make the crane a good prospect for both rental companies and end-users.” The Model 14000 is best suited to jobs that maximize its heavy-lift capabilities. These could be applications such as commercial construction, bridge building, tunneling, or work in fabrication yards and petrochemical plants. MCG unveiled plans for the Model 14000 at Crane Expo 2006: a gathering of dealers and customers at its facility in Shady Grove, Pennsylvania, US last year. Several dozen orders are on the books and deliveries begin mid-2007. The following are provisional specifications for the 14000.
